Clash Runes: Elyos sources and the reported upgrade risk

Evidence and version: this guide combines Global client-database records with community walkthroughs retrieved October 4, 2026. Quest givers, rewards and required or recommended levels come from database pages; one competing level, the item-level bonus and failure behavior come from community guides. Check tooltips, quest markers and the upgrade window in the current client before relying on any number here.

Two slots: every character has two Clash Rune slots, shown below the accessory slots in the Equipment window. Community guides report about 40 Item Level per equipped rune, so about 80 for both. Treat that as a community figure, not a verified client total.

Upgrade risk: community guides describe Clash Runes as an exception to the upgrade safety that protects weapons, armor and ordinary accessories, but their accounts of a failed rune upgrade differ. MetaBot's enhancement guide describes the rune dropping one level on a failure; a community farming guide describes a downgrade or the rune being destroyed. No recovery path is documented. Editorial field note: a rune in our own playing group was lost while upgrading on October 3, 2026; the enhancement level and client build were not recorded, so this is a single unmeasured observation. The exact failure outcome remains unresolved.

Safe practice: fill both slots first and keep both runes at +0 or +1. Only attempt higher levels when you hold a spare rune you can afford to lose. Each quest chest is a one-time reward, so a lost quest rune is not refunded by repeating the quest.

Cursed Blue Mineral: quest giver Hiru in the Aullaeu Village region of Verteron, Elyos, recommended level 30. The walkthrough rescues a hostage from Kochi's Quarters, follows the trail to Dodo's Stolen Goods Stash and ends by destroying the Fafnite carts and piles.

Zumion's Call, Part One: quest giver Dymones in Verteron, Elyos. Its listed reward is a ring, not a rune chest, and completing it leads to Part Two. The database record lists a required level of 10 and a recommended level of 37, while a community guide gives 35; if the quest is not offered, check its prerequisites and the quest markers.

Zumion's Call, Part Two: quest giver Seraphine in Verteron, Elyos, recommended level 37. It rewards a Clash Rune Chest (Bound), and community guides report that it unlocks the second rune slot.

Kraka Pond Pests: quest giver Rikke in Verteron, Elyos. The database record lists a required level of 10 and a recommended level of 45; these are different fields, and 45 is the practical target.

All Work and No Play: quest giver Xiao in Verteron, Elyos, recommended level 45. It begins by rescuing three Shugo merchants near Aullaeu Village. The map lists several Xiao positions; follow the active quest marker to find the one that starts this quest.

Asmodian equivalents: the same chest is listed for The Future Within the Past, Hugo Mercenaries: An Old Promise, Fallout and Another Survivor in Altgard. Elyos characters cannot take these quests.

Shops: the Growth tab of the Nightmare Trade Shop lists a Clash Rune Chest (Bound) for 500 Phantasmal Fragments, and the Season Shop lists the same chest for 4,000 Oath Coins. The chest also contains enhancement materials. A community farming guide also names the battle pass, events, world bosses and elite chests; those sources are not individually verified here.

Not established here: whether any Abyss content is required (no source reviewed says so), exact quest prerequisites, the precise result of a failed rune upgrade, and whether failure odds change with the materials used. These remain open until confirmed in the live client.
